Mission Statement

In partnership with parents and the community, the mission of Corporate Landing Middle School is to create a safe and welcoming environment where students are actively engaged in the learning process and empowered to reach their maximum potential.

About Us

Corporate Landing Middle School opened in 1997 with Dr. Edith Eidson as the first principal.  We serve a diverse population of students representing the diversity of our great community.  We currently serve 1325 students who come to us from Birdneck, Brookwood, Christopher Farms, Corporate Landing, Holland, Ocean Lakes, Strawbridge and Three Oaks Elementary schools.  We also have many military connected students.  Over 35% of our students have a family member serving our country.

  • What does it mean to be a Digital Anchor Learning school? CLMS was one of eleven schools selected to implement a technology integration initiative during the fall of 2015. Our teachers have spent the past year exploring ways to meaningfully integrate a variety of technologies seamlessly into classroom instruction.
  • The technology resources used include: laptop computers, mobile devices (student owned cell phones and tablets), digital cameras, social media platforms, learning management systems, cloud storage systems, a variety of software applications, the Internet, etc. in daily classroom practices, and in the management of a school. For the 2016-2017 school year, all eighth grade students will be assigned a laptop for their personal use. Devices will be assigned and distributed when students return to school in the fall. These devices are to be used during the instructional day and shall be brought home each night to support student learning. Additional classroom sets (30 laptops each) have been assigned to each classroom at the 6th and 7th grade levels to further support our digital anchor initiative.
  • What are our goals as part of the Digital Anchor Learning initiative?
Overall School Goals in Support of Digital Integration:
  • To ensure a seamless integration of technology into existing instructional practices. Students at CLMS are not only using technology on a daily basis, but now have greater access to a variety of technologies used to support and foster a deeper level of learning.
  • To provide a flexible learning environment with respect to time, location, and grouping. Learning at CLMS is no longer confined to the four walls of the classroom. Students now have 24/7 access to information and support.
  • To provide greater student ownership over content (what am I learning?); process (How am I learning it?); and product (How can I demonstrate what I have learned?). Learning at CLMS has shifted from being teacher-centered to student-centered.
  • To utilize technology as a means to collecting individualized student performance data, and then using those data to personalize learning experiences for each of our students. Students at CLMS are provided opportunities to reflect on their own data and set goals for personal growth.
  • To actively engage students in a technology rich environment whereby they are applying critical thinking skills in a variety of authentic, problem-based, assessments.  
  • What does effective technology integration look like? It is the goal of CLMS teachers to integrate technology that is:
    • Routine and transparent (seamlessly integrated)
    • Readily available and accessible (right tool for the right task)
    • Used to support curricular goals (through authentic learning experiences)
    • Used to help students reach their personal goals (individualized progress monitoring)
  • How has technology changed the way students and teachers learn? With a school-wide focus on meaningful technology integration, technology has allowed students and teachers the ability to:
    • Access ever-changing resource materials
    • Utilize a variety of methods for collecting and recording data
    • Connect and collaborate with experts from across the world
    • Use a variety of multimedia formats to demonstrate understanding
    • Engage in learning that is relevant and assessment that is authentic
    • Present and convey their ideas in new and innovative ways
  • What are the different types of technology integration in the classroom?
  • Online learning and blended classrooms
  • Project-based activities which incorporate technology
  • Game-based learning and assessment
  • Learning with mobile and hand-held devices
  • Instructional tools such as Interactive Whiteboards and student response systems
  • Web-based projects, explorations and research
  • Student-created media like Podcasts, blogs, videos and slideshows
  • Collaborative online tools like Wikis or Google Docs
  • Using a variety of social media to connect and engage students, families, and community members
  • Which technology integration framework do we follow at CLMS? Staff at CLMS have been trained on one of the more commonly used technology integration models known as SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition). The SAMR Model, created by Dr. Ruben Puentedora, provides a tool to assist teachers when planning the implementation of technology into their lessons. The ultimate goal of this technology integration model is to provide a variety of integrated experiences whereby teachers strive toward redefining how we teach and learn with new technologies.
